Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Friday announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin had no plans to attend the G20 summit in India in September, in person which is scheduled to happen in the national capital on September 8-10.According to the sources, the decision by the Russian government has been taken after the risks of President getting arrested on the charges of war with Ukraine, while travelling aboard. It is to be noted here that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for Putin accusing him of war crimes in Ukraine, something the Kremlin strongly denies. This means he risks arrest when travelling abroad.Noteworthy is that Putin did not even personally attend the BRICS Summit in Johannesburg recently. There also he was represented by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.🔴 #LIVE: Russias Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkovs news conference on the results of the XV BRICS Summit at the Rossiya Segodnya press centre. 🔗 https://t.co/f1eyIRcfXB— MFA Russia 🇷🇺 (@mfa_russia) August 25, 2023As the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest order for him in March for an alleged conspiracy to relocate Ukrainian children to Russia, President Putin made the decision not to attend the first BRICS meeting in person following Covid-19.However, Putin has denied all the charges against him.Being a signatory to the ICC, South Africa was anticipated to assist in Putins capture should he be there. On February 24, 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine in an escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War which began in 2014.
