President Droupadi Murmu appoints six new governors in major reshuffle

According to a statement released by Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday night, President Droupadi Murmu has named six new governors and reorganized three existing ones. "These appointments will take effect from the dates they assume control of their respective offices," the statement stated.

Assam and Manipur

Lakshman Prasad Acharya was nominated by the President to lead Assam and oversee Manipur as well. Anusuiya Uikye, who has been the governor of Manipur since February of last year, is replaced by him. The statement said, "Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Governor of Sikkim, has been appointed as Governor of Assam and has additionally been assigned charge of the Governor of Manipur."

Punjab

Gulab Chand Kataria has succeeded Banwarilal Purohit as the governor of Punjab, as per the noteworthy gubernatorial appointments declared by Rashtrapati Bhavan. This move follows President Droupadi Murmu's acceptance of Banwarilal Purohit's resignation from his positions as the administrator of Chandigarh and the governor of Punjab. Furthermore, Lakshman Prasad Acharya has been replaced by Gulab Chand Kataria, who has also been named the administrator of the Chandigarh Union Territory.

Sikkim & Maharashtra

The most recent appointments indicate that Om Prakash Mathur, a veteran BJP leader, will take over as Sikkim's governor. The announcement also mentioned the appointment of C P Radhakrishnan, the governor of Jharkhand, to the position of governor of Maharashtra. Puducherry, Chhattisgarh & Meghalaya
