New Delhi: On Sunday, Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav sharply criticized Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's decision to resign, describing it as a "political drama." Yadav further claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader had lost the "moral right" to continue in office after recent developments.
“This looks like a political drama, as the Supreme Court has already imposed restrictions on him. Delhi's people are aware and they will give an answer to the Aam Aadmi Party’s misgovernance in the assembly elections,” Yadav stated. Kejriwal was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Friday after being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and later by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection to alleged irregularities in the now-defunct Delhi excise policy. The bail came with conditions, including the fact that Kejriwal could not visit his office at the secretariat or sign any official documents.
Devender Yadav further questioned Kejriwal’s delay in resigning from the chief minister's post. “Kejriwal should have resigned as soon as he came out of jail, as there was no point in clinging to the post of CM with the apex court putting a lot of restrictions on him. Why is he waiting for two days?" Yadav asked.
Addressing his party workers, Kejriwal announced his plan to resign in two days, stating, “I am going to resign after two days; ask people whether I am honest; till they respond, won’t sit on CM’s chair. I will only sit on CM's chair after people give me a certificate of honesty; I want to give 'agnipariksha' after coming out of jail."
