Political blame-game on: BJP holds Delhi's CM Arvind Kejriwal responsible for massive fire at Ghazipur landfill site

A major fire that broke out at the Ghazipur landfill site in the National Capital on the evening of April 21 continues to rage on and efforts is currently underway to douse the fire.

One of the residents complained of breathing issues and alleged of adminstration's negligence for the massive fire. 

Efforts underway to control massive fire

However, Delhi Fire and MCD teams remained busy extinguishing the fire till late evening. According to the latest updates, the fire at the landfill site has not subsided. Efforts are being made to extinguish the fire. Delhi Fire Service SO Naresh Kumar said that the fire was caused by gas generated in the landfill. However, there is no casualties reported till now.

According to information received from Delhi Fire, a call was received about fire in Ghazipur landfill site around 5:22 pm on Sunday evening. As soon as the information was received, four fire brigade vehicles were sent to the spot. From the part of the landfill site where the fire broke out, fire engines were facing a lot of difficulty in delivering water to the fire. 

Political blame-game on between BJP and AAP

A political tussle between the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) began as soon as the fire was reported. Delhi BJP leader Ashish Sood has targeted the Delhi government over the fire in the Ghazipur garbage mountain. He has said that Delhi is in the grip of fire and poisonous smoke. He has held the Aam Aadmi Party government responsible for this. This situation has arisen due to the inaction of the government.


Apart from him, BJP leader Kapil Mishra also criticized CM Kejriwal and said Delhi CM fought MCD elections by showing the photo of this Ghazipur landfill. 

Unfulfilled promises 

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had promised to clear this landfill site by December 31 last year, before the 2022 MCD elections. However, the height of the landfill has since increased not decreased.
