Police register case after Kanwariya vandalize e-rickshaw in Roorkee

The action by the police has been taken after a group of Kanwariyas beat up an e-rickshaw driver after he accidently rammed into kanwar.

An e-rickshaw driver was attacked by a mob of 'kanwariyas' at Manglaur, Haridwar after the vehicle unintentionally struck a pilgrim. The incident happened on Wednesday in the Mangalore Kotwali jurisdiction area of Libberhedi. It was caught on camera, and it quickly went viral on social media.

Taking swift action in the case, the police have registered a case in the incident. While speaking to the media, the official said, ''The rickshaw driver is Sanjay Kumar. A Kanwariya collided with him, but the Kanwar was not broken. After this, a group of Kanwariyas beat him up with rods and vandalized his vehicle. We have filed a case.''

What exactly happened?

In a disturbing event that happened on July 23, some Kanwariyas violently attacked an e-rickshaw driver and vandalized his vehicle, after accidentally he collided with the kanwar, they were holding. 

According to the police official, despite the intervention of police, the kanwariyas were disregarded and despite the warning continued their destructive behavior. The victim was beaten with sticks and was immediately transferred to hospital for the treatment. 

Meanwhile, police have registered a case against unidentified Kanwariyas involved in assault and vandalism. Officials are now working to apprehend the culprits.
