New Delhi: In a shocking incident in Kerala's Kannur district, a police driver has been booked for attempted murder after he allegedly drove his car with a petrol pump employee clinging to the bonnet. The altercation arose when the employee asked the driver to pay for fuel filled at the pump on Monday.
According to Kannur city police commissioner Ajith Kumar, the accused, identified as K Santhosh Kumar, has been arrested and suspended from service. Charges, including attempt to murder, have been levied against him following the incident which occurred on Sunday evening.

The incident unfolded when Anil, the petrol pump employee, confronted Santhosh Kumar about payment for the fuel. CCTV footage captured Anil clinging to the bonnet of the speeding car for nearly a kilometer along a busy highway. The video quickly circulated on social media platforms, highlighting the severity of the confrontation.
Anil sustained injuries to his hands during the incident and subsequently filed a complaint with the Town Police. The prompt action by authorities led to the arrest of the accused on Monday, ensuring swift justice in the case. The incident has sparked outrage locally and raised concerns about public safety and the conduct of law enforcement personnel. Authorities continue to investigate the matter to ensure appropriate legal action against the accused driver, K Santhosh Kumar.
