In Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, thousands of young candidates have gathered outside the Public Service Commission (PSC) to protest against the scheduling of the PCS (Provincial Civil Services) and RO/ARO (Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer) exams on separate days. Despite heavy police presence and baton charges by law enforcement, the protesters remain undeterred.

Demand for single-day examination

The primary demand of the protestors is for the PSC to conduct both PCS and RO/ARO exams on a single day. Protestors argue that having the exams on separate days opens up the possibility of irregularities or discrepancies, which could unfairly impact their results. This demand stems from their concern over transparency and the potential for unfair advantages if different exam papers are administered over multiple days.

Heavy police deployment and barricades

As the protest grew, more than 10,000 young candidates assembled outside the PSC office. In response, authorities deployed police forces, along with personnel from the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and Rapid Action Force (RAF), to manage the large crowd. To control and contain the protest, several barricades were set up around the PSC premises, but the determined candidates remained on-site, voicing their demands for exam fairness and transparency.

Tensions rise amid protest

The atmosphere at the protest site became tense as police resorted to baton-charging some of the protesters. However, the candidates remain resolved in their demands, calling for a single-day exam format to ensure fair play. This protest highlights the ongoing frustration and concerns among young candidates regarding examination fairness and the need for a transparent recruitment process.
