As India celebrates its 77th Independence Day today (August 15, 2023), Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to deliver his 10th consecutive address to the nation from the historic Red Fort. According to the officials, PM Modi might hoist the national flag around 7.30 am and then deliver his iconic speech ahead of it.

Wishing the nation ‘Happy Independence Day’, PM Modi shared a tweet on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying “Best wishes on Independence Day. We pay homage to our great freedom fighters and reaffirm our commitment to fulfilling their vision. Jai Hind!”

PM Modi to address his 10th Independence Day address at Red Fort

During this annual event, PM Modi lays out his government’s achievements, reveals flagship initiatives, and outlines a vision for the nation’s future. Interestingly, this year’s address is said to be more significant as it’s his last before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Since 2014, the prime minister has indeed used this platform in order to review the country’s journey under his leadership and set the course for the years ahead. PM Modi has in the past refrained from launching a direct attack on the opposition parties in his Independence Day address.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has mainly used this occasion to focus on the transformative changes his government has ushered in during this scenario.

‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement

Apart from his iconic address at the Red Fort, PM Modi also urged the citizens to participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement initiated from August 13 to 15. Meanwhile, he urged people to change the display picture (DP) of their social media accounts to the Tricolour (National Flag). The prime minister himself changed the DP of his social media accounts to the Tricolour.

Urging people to change their DPs to the national flag, he wrote in a tweet, “Every Indian has an emotional connect with the Tricolour and it inspires us to work harder to further national progress. I urge you all to take part in the Har Ghar Tiranga movement between 13th to 15th August.”
