India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated over 2,000 railway infrastructure projects worth around ₹41,000 crore on Monday. In his address, Modi labelled the slew of openings and groundbreakings as symbolic of the 'New India's' work culture and ethic.

"Today's programme reflects an India working with unprecedented speed and scale - one which has parted with small aspirations to instead realise big dreams rapidly," he stated.

The PM added confidence that his ruling BJP coalition would secure a third successive term following elections this summer. "Right now, the foundation stone for over two thousand rail projects has been laid and inaugurated. My government's third term will commence in June, but the pace surprises everyone.”

Modi remotely laid foundations for the redevelopment of 553 stations under the Amrit Bharat scheme aimed at revamping transportation hubs.

He noted that the past decade has seen a transformed India take shape, highlighting the railways evolution through new Vande Bharat services, electrification and cleanliness drives.

In a swipe at previous administrations, the Prime Minister said his government had stopped the looting of public money and invested all earnings into expanding provision.

"The Indian Railways used to fall victim to politics but is now the main basis of ease of travel and a major job creator," Modi added.

He warned that whilst growing budgets reflect a strengthening economy, leaks from scams could still impact delivery on the ground.

According to Modi, renovated stations are also being utilized to showcase local cultures and artisans in a push towards an advanced India, or 'Viksit Bharat' as he put it.

The event connected the PM with governors, chief ministers and hundreds of lawmakers across India remotely.
