Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant visit to Varanasi on Tuesday (June 18), marking his first official trip following his re-election for a third consecutive term. One of the key highlights of this visit is his participation in the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan, during which he will unveil a staggering amount of Rs 20,000 crore as part of the income support scheme for over 9.26 crore farmers across the nation.

Expressing the sentiment behind this visit, the Varanasi district media in-charge of BJP, Arvind Mishra, highlighted, "The prime minister is coming to Kashi to express his gratitude to the voters of his constituency."

PM Modi's Itinerary in Varanasi

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will partake in the revered Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, commencing around 7 PM. Following this spiritual experience, he will engage in 'pooja' and 'darshan' at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, scheduled for around 8 PM. The subsequent day, on June 19, at approximately 9.45 AM, he will pay a visit to the Ruins of Nalanda, followed by the inauguration of the Nalanda University campus in Rajgir, Bihar, at around 10.30 AM. Commitment to Farmer Welfare

Underscoring the government's unwavering commitment to the welfare of farmers, Modi, immediately after assuming office for the third time, authorised the release of the 17th installment of PM Kisan Nidhi. This move reflects the administration's resolute dedication to uplifting the agricultural community.

During the upcoming event in Varanasi, Prime Minister Modi will disburse an instalment amount exceeding Rs 20,000 crore, benefiting around 9.26 crore farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme via Direct Benefit Transfer. This initiative forms part of a larger endeavour, with over 11 crore eligible farmer families already having received benefits exceeding Rs. 3.04 lakh crore under PM-KISAN.

Empowering Rural Women

In addition to the support extended to farmers, the prime minister will also acknowledge and empower more than 30,000 women from self-help groups (SHGs) during the event in Varanasi, recognizing them as Krishi Sakhis. This initiative falls under the Krishi Sakhi Convergence Program (KSCP), aimed at empowering rural women by imparting training and certification, aligning with the broader objectives of the "Lakhpati Didi" Program.
