Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to flag off six new Vande Bharat Express trains on Sunday, marking a significant expansion in India's premier semi-high-speed train network. These trains, indigenously designed and manufactured under the 'Make in India' initiative, are expected to enhance connectivity, comfort, and efficiency for passengers across several routes.

In a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), it was highlighted that the Vande Bharat portfolio is continuously growing, adding new routes to meet the needs of passengers. "Indigenously designed under the 'Make in India' initiative, the Vande Bharat trains offer cutting-edge features delivering luxury and efficiency to millions of passengers," the PMO said.

New routes to boost connectivity

The six new Vande Bharat trains, to be inaugurated by PM Modi from Tatanagar Junction Railway Station at around 10 am, will serve various locations, providing faster and safer journeys. The new routes include Tatanagar-Patna, Brahmapur-Tatanagar, Rourkela-Howrah, Deoghar-Varanasi, Bhagalpur-Howrah, and Gaya-Howrah.

A milestone for Indian Railways

Indian Railways has so far introduced 54 Vande Bharat trains across the country. These trains have completed approximately 36,000 trips and have carried over 3.17 crore passengers, the Railway Ministry reported.

The latest Vande Bharat 2.0 models come with advanced features such as fast acceleration, the Kavach anti-collision system, an anti-virus system, and Wi-Fi, further improving passenger safety and comfort. "With the Vande Bharat Express services, Indian Railways is on a path to revolutionising travel in India," the Railway Ministry added, emphasising the trains' contribution to the 'Make in India' campaign and their role in setting global standards for speed, safety, and service.
