Prime Minister Narendra Modi will Union Ministers In Meeting (ANI)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to chair the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting on Saturday, with an aim to focus on making India a developed nation by 2047. The meeting is expected to see participation from key ministers and state leaders at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre, according to an official release.

Attendees and Absentees 

According to the sources, the leaders of Punjab and Delhi, led by the Aam Aadmi Party, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and DMK leader MK Stalin have all declared their intention to abstain from the conference. 

On the other hand, Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal and expected at the meeting, stated she thought their voices ought to be heard on a common platform.

The NITI Aayog meeting is themed at "Viksit Bharat@2047," with a particular emphasis on India's development as a developed country. Discussions on the Approach Paper for the Vision Document on Viksit Bharat @2047 will take place during the Governing Council Meeting.

Aim of meeting

The meeting is aimed to foster participative governance and collaboration between the Centre and State Governments, enhancing the quality of life for both rural and urban populations by strengthening the delivery mechanisms of government interventions.

The meeting will also witness the in-depth discussions regarding the role of states in achieving ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’. With a GDP that has surpassed USD 5 trillion and ambitions to reach USD 30 trillion by 2047, India is poised to become the third-largest economy in the world.

In order to realize the goal of a "Viksit Bharat" by 2047, the Central and State governments must work together. A path for this objective is intended to be created at the 9th Governing Council Meeting.

Cyber security and AI governance on agenda

NITI Aayog's governing council will also talk about the suggestions made at the Third National Conference of Chief Secretaries, which took place on December 27 and 29, 2023. In addition, special sessions were organized to explore topics that were covered at the Third National Conference of Chief Secretaries, including cyber security, the aspirational districts and blocks program, the role of states, and AI in governance.

Chief Ministers and Lieutenant Governors of States and Union Territories, Union Ministers as Ex-officio Members and Special Invitees, the Vice Chairman and members of NITI Aayog, and the Prime Minister, who chairs the organization, will all be present.
