Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to travel to his native state Gujarat for a two-day visit on October 30 and 31. During this trip he is scheduled to launch a host of development projects and also attend the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day celebrations at the Statue of Unity, officials said.

These development projects will be launched by Modi while addressing a public gathering near Kheralu town of Gujarat's Mehsana district on October 30, the government officials said.

According to media reports, ruling BJP sources claimed that nearly one lakh people will attend the mega rally in Kheralu.

Moreover, PM Modi is also expected to either inaugurate or lay foundation stones for projects worth ₹ 4,778 crore at Dabhoda village in Kheralu taluka of Mehsana district, the BJP said in a release.

PM Modi Gujarat visit: Day 2

On October 31 the second day of his visit to Gujarat, Modi will be in Narmada district to take part in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations at the Statue of Unity (SoU), a monument dedicated to India's first home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was born on October 31, 1875, and his birth anniversary has been celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Rashtriya Ekta Diwas since 2014. It was started by the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first-ever Rashtriya Ekta Diwas event with the theme “Run For Unity” in New Delhi.

At the SoU, the PM would pay floral tributes to Sardar Patel and address a gathering, the officials said.
