Indian PM Narendra Modi inaugurated Vantara, a hi-tech rescue, conservation, and rehabilitation center in Jamnagar, whose 3-day trip had a single focus-Gujarat. Vantara is a vast 3,0000 acre area of the Reliance Jamnagar Refinery Complex with over 2500 species of rescued, threatened, endangered, and critically endangered species. A state-of-the-art facility intending to provide cutting-edge veterinary treatment and accommodation.

Interactions with rescued animals

The PM was seen interacting with a rescued animal and some other rehabilitated animals during his visit to Vantara. Videos captured of the PM feeding and playing with animals he coined as orangutans, Asiatic lion cubs, white lion cubs, and clouded leopard cubs-one of the rarest and most endangered-species-evoked lovable vibes amongst the people and became viral on social media. The humane endeavors exhibited towards the animals have indeed been warmly appreciated across social media.

Sophisticated veterinary care at Vantara

PM Modi also visited the sophisticated hospital working on the wildlife at the Vantara facility with MRI, CT scan, ICU units, and specialized departments for wildlife anaesthesia, cardiology, nephrology, endoscopy, dentistry, and internal medicine. Among other sights, he saw an MRI being done on an Asiatic lion and also spent time in an operation theatre, where work was underway to save an injured leopard after being hit by a car.

The Prime Minister appreciated the effort that went into establishing Vantara as a refuge for threatened species and communicating a timely stress to staff about wildlife conservation for the proper balance of the ecosystems in India.

Fun times with animals

From patting an okapi, witnessing the underwater antics of a hippopotamus, hobnobbing among zebras, feeding a baby giraffe, and a rhinoceros, to throwing his playful body around with a rescued orangutan previously kept in severely overcrowded conditions, P.M. Modi's visit proved to be richly heartwarming, and it won't be wrong to say he stole the show.
