PM Modi Set to initiate BJP's Election push from Congress President Kharge's home territory

The BJP's state general secretary, V. Sunil Kumar, said on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend a public gathering in Kalaburagi on March 16 to launch the party's Lok Sabha election campaign in Karnataka. AICC President M. Mallikarjun Kharge hails from Kalaburagi, his home area. He was elected to the Lok Sabha twice, in 2009 and 2014, but lost to Umesh Jadhav of the BJP in the most recent general elections.  Party sources indicate that Radhakrishna Doddamani, the son-in-law of Kharge, is likely to be fielded by the Congress this time.

Modi marches to Shivamogga too!

Party sources indicate that Radhakrishna Doddamani, the 81-year-old son-in-law of Kharge, is likely to be fielded by the Congress this time.  Driven On March 18, PM Modi will also speak at a public event in Shivamogga, Sunil Kumar informed reporters at the BJP state headquarters.

Cong vs BJP

After fighting together for a coalition government at the time and gaining a seat apiece, the Congress and the JD(S), led by former prime minister H. D. Deve Gowda, came up short.  However, since then, a lot has happened on the political scene. In the Assembly elections held in May, the Congress won by a wide margin, taking 135 seats out of the 224 members. JD(S) and BJP both dropped to 19 and 66 seats, respectively.  Since joining the BJP-led NDA in September of last year, the JD(S) and the other party have been fighting the elections together.

According to Sunil Kumar, several national figures, including BJP president J. P. Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, would visit several Lok Sabha seats and give speeches at public events in the upcoming weeks.
