Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached out to a segment of the population to solicit their input in shaping the Union government's "Viksit Bharat" agenda.
This move comes on the heels of the impending announcement of general elections. In a letter addressing the public, the PM expressed, "I need and indeed, look forward to your ideas, suggestions, and support as we work to fulfil the resolve of building a Viksit Bharat."
As Prime Minister Modi seeks a third term in office, he has set an ambitious target of securing over 400 seats for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies. The development agenda and the promise of a Viksit Bharat by 2047 stand as central pillars of the BJP's election strategy.
The Viksit Bharat agenda represents a comprehensive vision outlined by the PM, aimed at bringing about "social changes, technical innovations, and economic reforms to raise India’s position at the global level."
In his letter, addressed to "my dear family members," aligning with the BJP's "Modi Ka Parivaar" (Modi's family) narrative, the PM remarked, "Our partnership is at the threshold of completing a decade. The trust and support of 140 crore Indians inspires and motivates me."
Acknowledging the impact of government schemes and programmes, the PM credited them for the "transformation that has taken place in the lives of the people," labelling it "the biggest achievement of our government over the last 10 years."
Highlighting the significant strides made in various sectors, such as providing pucca houses through Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, ensuring access to essential utilities like electricity, water, and LPG, offering free medical treatments under Ayushman Bharat, extending financial aid to farmers, and supporting women through initiatives like Matru Vandana Yojana, the PM emphasised that these outcomes were only possible due to the trust placed in his leadership.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi credited the unwavering "trust and support" of the electorate for enabling the government to make "historic and major decisions" such as the implementation of GST, the abrogation of Article 370, enacting a new law on Triple Talaq, passing the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, and taking robust measures against terrorism and left-wing extremism.
Expressing the essence of democracy and public participation, the PM emphasised, "The beauty of democracy lies in Janbhagidari, or public participation. It is your support that gives me the immense strength to take bold decisions for the nation’s welfare, draw up aspirational plans, and implement them smoothly." He urged the public to share their suggestions to fulfil the collective goal of building a Viksit Bharat.
