New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a ride on the Ahmedabad metro on Monday after inaugurating Phase 2 of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project. Accompanied by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, PM Modi traveled on the newly launched route from Section 1 Metro Station to GIFT City Metro Station. During the journey, he interacted with the youth of the state.The second phase of the Ahmedabad Metro was developed by the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation in partnership with both the state and central governments. This expansion aims to improve public transportation infrastructure in the region.Major initiatives across AhemdabadIn addition to launching the metro, PM Modi is set to unveil several major initiatives across Ahmedabad. These include the highly anticipated launch of Indias first Vande Metro, now rebranded as the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail. The 12-coach train will run from Bhuj to Ahmedabad, becoming operational for the public on September 17. Key developments include the quadrupling of the Samakhiali-Gandhidham and Gandhidham-Adipur railway lines, as well as the construction of flyover bridges at Bakrol, Hathijan, Ramol, and Panjarpol Junction.Aims to provide free electricityAdditionally, the prime minister will meet beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in Gandhinagars Vavol area. This scheme aims to provide free electricity to households installing rooftop solar units.Further advancing solar energy, PM Modi will also launch a 30 MW solar project and a 35 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Kutch Lignite Thermal Power Station, along with 220 kV substations in Morbi and Rajkot.
