Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday has been conferred with Lokmanya Tilak National Award on the 103rd death anniversary of freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak.

Today, Modi began his trip to Pune by making a prayer offering at the famous Dagdusheth temple. Along with inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for several development projects at the Parade ground of the Shivajinagar police headquarters, Modi will also open the new Metro rail line extension that will make commuting between Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune easier and faster.

Noteworthy is, that Prime Minister Narendra Modi appeared on stage alongside principal guest Sharad Pawar at the Lokmanya Tilak National Award ceremony in Pune. This is after Ajit Pawar, the breakaway faction’s leader in Maharashtra, joined the state’s BJP-Shiv Sena coalition administration after Pawar’s party split recently.

While speaking at the event, PM Modi said, “I pay my respect to both (freedom fighter) Lokmanya Tilak and (social reformer) Anna Bhau Sathe.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral tributes to Lokmanya Balgangadhar Tilak at the Lokmanya Tilak National Award ceremony on Tuesday. August 1 marks as birth anniversary if Tilak.

He dedicated the award money to Namami Gange Project. “I want to dedicate the award money that I have received today to the Namami Gange Project,” says PM Modi as he receives Lokmanya Tilak National Award in Pune.
