Prime Minister Narendra Modi tops the ranking for the most popular global leader with a 76% rating, as per the reports of a US-based consultancy firm. The firm’s ‘Global Leader Approval Rating Tracker’ claimed that 76 per cent of people approve of PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, while 18 per cent disapprove of it and six per cent did not give any opinion.

Following the success of the G20 Summit Modi is being lauded by many. While he remains at the top, the second-best approval rating is enjoyed by Switzerland President Alain Berset (64 per cent) and Mexico President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (61 per cent).

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also shared the rating on X (formally Twitter) and wrote, “The latest Morning Consult survey shows that PM @narendramodi Ji’s popularity remains unrivalled among global leaders. This is not only a testament to the success of the Modi doctrine in foreign policy but also a global recognition of Modi Ji’s undeterred achievements in lifting millions out of poverty, selfless efforts to improve their living standards and people’s unyielding trust in him.”

G20 Summit in India

India recently successfully hosted the G20 summit in the national capital, hosting over 40 global leaders and their delegations. The New Delhi Declaration was adopted unanimously with full consensus at the Summit.

A major standout of the declaration was bringing all global powers on the same page and forging consensus on an issue as divisive as the Russia-Ukraine war.

Following the end of the G20 Summit, Modi handed over the G20 gravel to Brazil President Lula da Silva and also proposed to hold a virtual G20 session in November before Brzail takes over the presidency for G20 2024 in December.

A major and historic takeaway of India’s presidency of the G20 Summit has been the inclusion of the African Union as a permanent member of the Group of 20 (G20).
