New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Lok Sabha, reaffirmed his government's commitment to transforming India into a developed nation by 2047. "We will work 24*7 for 2047," declared the Prime Minister, emphasizing his administration's relentless dedication to this ambitious goal. Despite the Prime Minister's speech, Opposition MPs persistently chanted "Manipur, Manipur," showcasing their discontent.
Responding to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address, PM Modi lauded the wisdom of India's voters. He attributed the success of the recent general elections to the electorate's recognition of his government's decade-long efforts. "India has supported us after seeing our work for ten years," he stated, highlighting the public's endorsement of his administration's initiatives.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Bhagwat Karad extolled the achievements of the Modi government, noting the stability it has brought to the country. "It’s after six decades that a stable government has returned to power for the third consecutive term," Karad observed. He contrasted the BJP's tenure with that of the previous UPA administration, claiming significant improvements in India's global image and domestic security.
"During the UPA rule, India was seen as a poor country. Since the BJP took power in 2014, PM Modi has worked tirelessly to change the fate and image of the nation. There have been no terrorist attacks in major cities over the last ten years, and the economy has strengthened," Karad asserted.
Throughout the session, Speaker Om Birla admonished Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi for inciting protests. The House echoed with chants of "Manipur, Manipur" and demands for justice from Opposition MPs, underscoring the ongoing political tensions.
As opposition members gathered in the Well of the House, Speaker Birla directly addressed Rahul Gandhi, criticizing him for encouraging the disruptive behavior. “This behavior is against the spirit of your post and the House,” Birla stated, emphasizing the importance of maintaining decorum during parliamentary sessions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appearance in the Lok Sabha was met with enthusiastic chants of “Modi, Modi” from BJP members. BJP MP Manoj Tiwari paused his own speech to allow the chants praising the prime minister to continue. “BJP’s victory on all seats of Delhi represents its faith in Narendra Modi,” Tiwari remarked, underscoring the party’s support for the Prime Minister.
Opposition MPs insisted that Manipur MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam be allowed to speak. Speaker Om Birla responded that Akoijam had already been given an opportunity to address the House. Despite this, opposition members continued their chants and protests, highlighting the ongoing tensions within the parliament.
