Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday praised Anurag Thakur's speech in the Lok Sabha, describing it as a "perfect mix of facts and humour" that effectively exposed the "dirty politics" of the INDI Alliance.

It is important to note that the statement from PM Modi was made in the context of ongoing political debates and discussions in the Parliament. Taking it to his X handle, Modi said, “This speech by my young and energetic colleague, Shri @ianuragthakur is a must hear. A perfect mix of facts and humour, exposing the dirty politics of the INDI Alliance.”

Thakur, a prominent member of the ruling party, is known for his articulate and often pointed speeches, which are aimed at highlighting the shortcomings and controversies associated with opposition parties.

Notably, the words from the Prime Minister came after the Congress that leads the INDIA alliance objected to Thakur’s speech and asked if the address was made at the prime minister’s behest.

Here's what Anurag Kashyap said:

Anurag Thakur defended the BJP's lotus symbol and launched a scathing attack on the Congress party during the Union Budget discussion on Tuesday. He began by congratulating Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting the seventh consecutive budget, describing it as a "budget that resonates with public sentiments."

Addressing condemnation from opposition leaders who had made derogatory remarks about the BJP's election symbol, the lotus, Thakur said, "The lotus is not just our election symbol but also represents Goddess Lakshmi, our national flower, and the meditative posture of Padmasana."

He accused the opposition of insulting revered figures like Lord Shiva, Buddha, and Lokmanya Tilak by disparaging the lotus.

The whole episode followed after the Leader of the opposition, Rahul Gandhi accused Anurag Thaukr of ‘abusing and insulting’ him in the Lok Sabha during the discussion of the Union Budget. Notably, Anurag Thakur entered into a heated argument with Rahul Gandhi during his speech in the Lower House of the Parliament, saying that those whose caste is unknown are speaking on the issue of caste census.

Reacting to this, the Congress leader said that whoever raises the issues of Adivasi, Dalit, and the backwards gets abused.

Samajwadi Party chief, Akhilesh Yadav also intervened in the conversation, questioning Anurag Thakur that how someone can ask about the caste of any person.

The caste census was one of the promises that were made by the Congress party in the 2024 general elections.
