On July 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Mumbai, Maharashtra, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for developmental projects valued at ₹29,400 crore at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, according to government officials. During his visit, PM Modi will first appear at the NESCO Exhibition Centre and then proceed to the INC Secretariat at the Bandra Kurla Complex.

NESCO Exhibition

At 5:30 pm, PM Modi will attend the function at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, where he will launch several projects aimed at enhancing transportation connectivity in Mumbai. These projects include developments in railways, roads, and ports. Additionally, he will inaugurate the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana, a skill enhancement initiative in Mumbai.

Following his visit to NESCO, Modi will inaugurate the new INS Towers at the Indian News Service (INS) Secretariat in Bandra Kurla Complex at 7 pm. These towers will serve as a new office space for INS employees, centralizing the newspaper network in Mumbai.

Twin Tunnels

PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the Thane-Borivali Tunnel Project, valued at ₹16,600 crore. This project involves tube tunnels passing under the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, creating a direct connection between Western Express Highway at Borivali and Ghodbunder Road in Thane. The 11.8-kilometre Borivali-Thane Link Road will reduce the journey distance by 12 kilometres and save an hour of travel time.

Additionally, PM Modi will launch the Goregaon Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project, valued at over ₹6,300 crore, which will connect the Western Express Highway at Goregaon to the Eastern Express Highway at Mulund. This project aims to cut travel time from 75 minutes to 25 minutes.

Other Projects

Other projects include the initiation of the Kalyan Yard remodelling project and the Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal in Navi Mumbai. The remodelling of Kalyan Yard is expected to improve punctuality and operational efficiency by segregating suburban and long-distance train traffic. The Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal will enhance its capacity for handling cement and other commodities while creating job opportunities in the region.

The prime minister will also launch new platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and extend platforms 10 and 11 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to accommodate more trains and 24-coach trains, respectively. These developments are expected to increase ridership.

Finally, the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana, with an outlay of ₹5,600 crore, will be launched to address youth unemployment and provide skill enhancement opportunities for individuals aged 18 to 30 years.
