New Delhi: In a sharp retort directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge raised eyebrows on Saturday, questioning the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's conspicuous absence in Manipur amidst his extensive travels across the nation. Addressing the media at the All India Congress Committee headquarters, Kharge also shed light on Rahul Gandhi's ambitious 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,' unveiling its comprehensive 6700 km itinerary.

PM Modi's selective travels draw criticism

Kharge, taking a dig at the Prime Minister, remarked, "An unfortunate incident occurred in Manipur, but PM Modi either went to the beach, had a photo session swimming, went for photos at the ongoing temple construction site, or went to Kerala and Mumbai. He goes everywhere, you can see his photos everywhere…Just like the ‘darshan’ of God first thing after waking up. But why did this great man not go to Manipur?"

‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ to commence

Providing insights into Rahul Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,' Kharge stated, "Commencing from January 14, a significant Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will be initiated under the guidance of Congress President Rahul Gandhi. The journey will commence from Imphal, Manipur, traversing 15 states, including Nagaland, Assam, Arunachal, and concluding in Mumbai.

Spanning over 110 districts, this yatra will cover 100 Lok Sabha seats and 337 assembly seats, covering a distance of approximately 6700 km. The focus of ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ is on addressing social, economic, political, and fundamental issues facing the nation."

Congress' critique of central government

Kharge took the opportunity to criticise the Central government, stating, "When we attempted to address national issues in Parliament, our voices were stifled. It’s unprecedented that 146 MPs were suspended. Hence, ‘Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra’ aims to connect with the people directly, allowing us to share our perspectives and engage with every segment of society."

He also unveiled the official logo of 'Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra' during the announcement, emphasising that the yatra represents a significant stride towards ensuring economic, social, and political justice for the citizens of the country.
