As a billion Muslims around the world celebrate the holy festival of Eid al-Adha on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his wishes to the leaders and people of Kuwait and Bangladesh.

The Prime Minister extended his greetings to the Kuwaiti Amir, Crown Prince, and Prime Minister, and to the people of the state of Kuwait, through a personal letter on his own behalf and the people of India.

In the personal letter, the Prime Minister said that the festival of Eid al-Adha “reminds us of the values of sacrifice, compassion and brotherhood, which are essential in building a peaceful and inclusive world that we all aspire for”, according to the Indian Embassy in Kuwait.

Eid al-Adha will bring India and Bangladesh even closer: PM Modi

Narendra Modi wished Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday, conveying greetings on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. He expressed his hope that the auspicious festival will bring the two South Asian allies even closer in terms of bilateral cooperation.

Eid al-Adha, known as the Fest of Sacrifice, is one of the largest festivals in Islam. It takes place on the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijja – the final month in the Islamic calendar – and lasts for four days.

It is celebrated by Muslims all across India, with particularly fervent celebrations in Delhi, Lucknow, Kerala, Mumbai, and other places.
