Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced on Thursday that Reach 6 of Phase 2 of Namma Metro in Bengaluru would be operational by 2025. While speaking to media persons after inaugurating the start of tunnel drilling work at KG Halli metro station, Mr. Shivakumar stated, "The construction of Phase 2 Reach 6 of the Metro is progressing swiftly, and we expect to open it for public use by 2025."

"The total length of the tunnel on this route is 13.76 km, and the stretch between Dairy Circle and Nagavara will have 12 stations overall. The entire route from Kalena Agrahara to Nagavara spans 21.26 km," he further explained.

Providing an update on the project's advancement at the media briefing, the Deputy CM remarked, "Currently, nine tunnel boring machines are active, with seven nearing completion. Roughly 75% of construction is finished across the 12 stations along this corridor. Afcons, L&T and ITD have been awarded the building contracts for this phase."

"Major interchange stations on this line include Jayadeva Hospital, MG Road, Cantonment and Nagavara. Namma Metro has achieved global standards and surpasses even the Delhi Metro in many regards. We have never compromised on quality, comfort or convenience for the commuters at any juncture," he added.

"We intend to construct underground tunnel roads across Bengaluru as well. I am here to gain first-hand insight into the tunnel drilling process and the challenges involved," Deputy Chief Minister.
Queried if the state budget would announce new metro routes, the Deputy CM hinted, "We have already instructed preparation of DPRs for Tumakuru, Anekal and Bidadi routes. I will disclose more once the DPR is finalized. We need to take the Centre on board as well for the Metro plans."
