Delhi: On Sunday, September 29, AAP Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj voiced serious concerns about the escalating crime rate in Delhi, specifically highlighting the surge in extortion threats. Bharadwaj claimed that 80 out of 100 businessmen in Delhi are paying extortion money after receiving threats from international numbers, creating an atmosphere of panic across the capital.Businessmen fear gangstersThe minister further explained that business owners and traders in Delhi are now living in fear, scared to even mention the names of notorious gangsters such as Goldy Brar and Deepak Boxer, who have been issuing threats and demanding money. He pointed out that despite the worsening law and order situation, the LG seemed more focused on non-police-related issues such as Public Works Department (PWD) and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) matters. Why doesnt the LG visit any of Delhis 209 police stations Bharadwaj questioned, emphasizing that the LG should be addressing the crime wave.Shooting and extortion cases on riseCiting specific incidents, Bharadwaj referenced a recent shooting inside a showroom in Narayana, as well as a major robbery in Gulabi Bagh, where Rs 3.45 crore was looted from a businessman. He also mentioned that gangster Goldy Brar is demanding Rs 5 crore from a Mahipalpur resident. The minister called on the LG to visit these crime scenes and take decisive action alongside the police commissioner and home minister.
