New Delhi: A 24-year-old man and his father were arrested for allegedly assaulting a Station House Officer (SHO) and a constable in Delhi’s Batla House area on Saturday night. The incident occurred while the officers, led by Inspector Narpal Singh of Jamia Nagar Police Station, were conducting routine patrols. The police stopped the young man, identified as Asif, for violating traffic laws by using an illegally-modified, noise-enhancing silencer on his motorcycle.

Assault after legal action initiated

According to police reports, Asif called his father, Riyazuddin, to the scene when he was stopped. Riyazuddin attempted to “settle the matter” with the officers to avoid legal action, stating, "Just settle it here and let him go, or else things won’t go well." The SHO, however, insisted on following legal protocol, escalating tensions. As per officials, Riyazuddin then grabbed the SHO, while Asif struck him near his eye, resulting in a visible injury. Constable Ramkesh also sustained injuries in the altercation.

Police response and medical treatment

Despite the assault, the police team managed to control and detain the father-son duo. The injured officers were transported to Holy Family Hospital for treatment and were later confirmed to be in stable condition. “The condition of both officers is now normal,” police affirmed.
