Indigo passenger apologises for his behaviour, video goes viral saying ‘Sorry Sir’

The incident of passenger slapping the pilot happened on Sunday, inside flight number 6E 2175 which was departing from Delhi to Goa at around 1 pm while the latter was announcing a flight delay at Delhi airport.

Update (January 15, 1:07 PM): The passenger who has been identified as Sahil Kataria, who hit the pilot of the Indigo airlines now apologise for his rude behaviour. A purported video that has now got viral on social media, show him saying 'Sorry Sir'.

It is also anticipated that there are chances that the passenger will be put on 'No Fly' list.


Passenger to be put on 'No-Fly' list after pilot assault incident at Goa-bound Indigo flight

The passenger who assaulted the pilot on the Goa-bound Indigo flight on Sunday has been put on investigation by the Aviation security agency 

The incident happened on Sunday, January 14, inside flight number 6E 2175 which was departing from Delhi to Goa at around 1 pm while the latter was announcing a flight delay at Delhi airport, the officials said. 

The agitated passenger in the viral video has been identified as Sahil Katariya. He can be seen punching the co-pilot, identified as Anup Kumar, while he was announcing on board about the delay in the flight. In the video, the captain can be seen making an announcement on delays. The passenger was wearing a yellow-jackets runs up to the captain and slaps him on the face.

While trying to address the situation, a flight attendant standing beside the captain immediately came to his rescue, trying to address the situation. The passenger thereafter has been pulled behind by another man as commotion spreads inside the cabin. The flight attendant can be heard shouting out "You can't do this; you can't do this" as the man who caused the commotion heads back to his seat.

The flight was delayed due to dense fog conditions. 

Why the complaint has been filed by the pilot?

It is to be noted here that as per government rules in 2017 on unruly passengers, if any passenger found to behaving unruly while being onboard, can come under investigation after pilot files the complaint. 

In this case, on the basis of complaint, an FIR no 32/24 u/s 323/341/290 IPC and 22 aircraft rules has been registered and investigation taken up.

The committee will decide on the matter within 30 days and specify how long the flyer can be kept from travelling.
