Parliament Winter Session: Oppn MPs seek discussion on Parliament security breach

Since two unknown people with gas canisters jumped into the Lok Sabha from the visitors' gallery, triggering panic inside the House on December 13, the opposition lawmakers are demanding a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the issue.

According to the sources, the opposition MPs will be actively pushing for a discussion on the recent security breach incident in the Parliament's Winter Session on Monday. The security breach happened on the anniversary of 2001 Parliament terror attack.

Details of the breach are still emerging.

Opposition Demands:

Opposition MPs have submitted notices under Rule 193 urging a discussion on the security breach in both houses of Parliament.
They demand transparency from the government regarding the incident's details and the measures being taken to address the security lapse.

Some Opposition leaders have also called for a thorough investigation into the breach and accountability for those responsible.

Government Response:

The government has not yet formally responded to the Opposition's demands. However, some government officials have acknowledged the seriousness of the incident and assured that appropriate action will be taken. It remains to be seen whether the government will agree to a full-fledged discussion on the issue or offer limited information in closed-door briefings.

Investigation Underway:

To investigate the Parliament security breach, Delhi Police special cells team will probe the Parliament Security breach in six states. Till now, six people in connection with the case have been sent into police custody. More details on the development are awaited.
