MP News: In a significant development between the Centre and the Opposition, Members of Parliament (MPs) from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have agreed to hold a debate on the Constitution to mark its 75th year of adoption. The debate will take place on December 13 and 14 in the Lok Sabha, and on December 16 and 17 in the Rajya Sabha. The deadlock in Parliament was broken after Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla convened an all-party meeting earlier today. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed the dates for the debates while urging MPs to maintain order and allow parliamentary proceedings to function smoothly.Key Issues to be Raised During DebatesDuring the debates, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) plans to address ongoing atrocities against minority communities, particularly Hindus, in Bangladesh. The Samajwadi Party (SP) will focus on the Sambhal violence, a topic that has garnered attention in recent weeks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi may participate in the debate and respond to questions, although there is little chance of the discussion turning to the indictment of Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani.US prosecutors have charged Adani with bribery and fraud, a matter that has been a point of contention in Parliament. The Congress party has been vocal in criticizing the government over the Adani issue, accusing the government of ignoring allegations of corruption and fraud.Diverging Views within the OppositionWhile the Congress has heavily criticized the government over the Adani issue, the TMC has distanced itself from the Congress-led INDIA blocs focus. Instead, the TMC has raised concerns about broader issues like unemployment, price rise, and fiscal discrimination against states governed by the opposition. The Congress has accused the government of avoiding discussions on critical matters such as the Adani scandal, the Sambhal violence, and unrest in Manipur. According to Congress, the government is deliberately preventing Parliament from functioning properly. Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned on Monday due to continued protests by opposition MPs. Last week, the Lok Sabha proceedings were also disrupted by similar protests, highlighting the ongoing tension between the government and opposition.
