Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding a discussion and debate on several issues including the current economic situation of the country. Notably, the letter has been sent to PM, ahead of the upcoming special Parliament session which will begin on September 18.
According to the sources, the letter written by Sonia Gandhi has said that the opposition most certainly wants to participate in the special session as it will give an opportunity to highlight the issues of public concern and importance.
The letter talks about the need for the discussion on Manipur, caste census, communal clashes and inflation. Gandhi, further underlined the spirit of constructive cooperation for the successful special Parliamentary session.

While addressing media, the senior party leader and Congress MP Jairam Ramesh briefed about the points highlighted in the letter, which needs to be discussed during the upcoming session:
1. Inflation, unemployment and MSMEs should be discussed.
2. The government had talked about giving legal guarantee to the MSP, let’s talk about its current situation.
3. There should be a discussion on the demand of JPC in the Adani case.
4. There should be discussion on caste census and census.
5. There should be a discussion on the attacks on federal structures and non-BJP ruled states being deprived of their rights.
6. There should be talk on the disaster like flood in Himachal Pradesh and the situation of extreme drought in many states.
7. There should be a discussion on China’s encroachment on the border of Ladakh-Arunachal Pradesh.
8. There should be talk on the communal tension spread in many states like Haryana.
9. The government should clarify the position on the violence in Manipur.

Congress MP, Jairam Ramesh also clarified that upcoming session will be attended by all the members of the INDIA bloc from September 18-22 and asserted that they will not boycott the session as it will give an opportunity to raise public issues.
