The anti-terror unit of the Delhi police has taken over the assignment of investigating Wednesday's security breach in Parliament when two men unleashed smoke bombs inside the Lok Sabha chamber. Cops now plan to recreate the audacious scene over the weekend with the accused, as per media reports.

Terror cell to lead the investigation

The special cell, which handles terror-related cases in the capital, is leading the probe into the shocking breach that made global headlines and raised concerns over safety protocols.

Accused of be taken to Parliament

As part of evidence gathering, five people have been arrested so far. They will be taken back to Parliament this Saturday or Sunday to recreate the incident and their movements. Police hope this exercise will provide clues about gaps that enabled the security lapse.

Other probe avenues

Cops also intend to take the accused to a Gurugram house where they allegedly met for planning. This may offer further leads into potential accomplices and contacts behind the conspiracy.

Recreating brazen scene

On Wednesday afternoon, protesters Sagar Sharma and D Manoranjan smuggled smoke canisters into the Lok Sabha visitor's gallery. At a signal, they jumped into the chamber below, set off coloured smoke and dodged security personnel before being caught.

Two other accomplices who could not enter the parliament sat outside the building and held a protest shouting slogans and waving smoke canisters, before they were caught.

Security overhaul needed?

The sensational breach comes after over 22 years when a terror attack on the old Parliament building killed nine. It has prompted calls for reviewing security protocols to prevent the precinct's sanctity from being violated again amid questions over potential lapses that enabled this attack.

With the anti-terror squad taking charge, authorities hope to get to the bottom of the incident and ascertain aspects that may require bolstering to avoid any repeats.
