National News: Recently, India has taken several strict decisions against Pakistan after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. The most important step was to postpone the Indus Water Treaty, as well as prohibit visas to the citizens of Pakistan and reduce the number of Pakistani High Commission in Delhi. These decisions show India's clear and strict policies against Pakistan, after which the pressure on Pakistan increased.

Pakistan's system and calamity case

Following these actions in India, a high level meeting was held in Pakistan, in which the National Security Committee (NSC) considered that Pakistan should also take equal steps to face India's counter -steps. But the most shocking statement of this meeting was Pakistan's threatening to cancel the calamity agreement. Now the question arises, is the Shimla agreement so important and what indicates it for Pakistan?

Shimla Agreement: Foundation of Indo-Pak relations

The Shimla agreement was reached after the 1971 war between India and Pakistan, when India created the eastern part of Pakistan and created Bangladesh. After this war, the need for peace and agreement between the two countries was felt, and on 2 July 1972, the agreement was reached between the then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Pakistan Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in Shimla.

The purpose and importance of the agreement

The main objective of the Shimla Agreement was to establish peace between the two countries and to resolve the disputes in future in communication and peaceful ways. In this, it was decided that the two countries would solve their issues through mutual negotiations, and no third party would have the right to intervene. In addition, the Line of Control (LOC) of Kashmir was also accepted as each other's rights.

Is Pakistan's threat just a politics?

The threat of cancellation of the Shimla Agreement by Pakistan seems just a political tactic. India has already clarified that the issue of Kashmir is bilateral and the Shimla agreement is an integral part of it. If Pakistan threatens to cancel the agreement, it will not only harm its international image, but will also prove that Pakistan does not believe in peace and stability.

Pakistan's threat: Is this just a political move?

There is no need to take Pakistan's threat to cancel the Shimla Agreement seriously. This is only a political buzz that tries to save the policies of Pakistan. The manner in which India has taken steps against Pakistan reflects its perseverance and courage. Now it remains to be seen whether Pakistan moves towards a peaceful solution despite these threats or walks on its old paths.
