Pakistan's routine comments regarding Jammu and Kashmir have generated controversy yet again. Following making India's Union Territory announcements as a matter of routine, Pakistan again found itself in sharp criticism from the Indian government. Countering, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) strongly criticized Islamabad for routine comments on Jammu and Kashmir, further adding that the real issue is Pakistan's encouragement of cross-border terrorism.
India firmly rebutted on Tuesday Pakistan's reaction to what Prime Minister Narendra Modi had stated when he appeared as a guest in a podcast hosted by American podcaster Lex Fridman. When he was a guest on the podcast, PM Modi had implied that all the efforts towards peace with Islamabad were met with hostility and betrayal. Pakistan, in turn, labeled Modi’s remarks as “misleading and one-sided.” Responding to this, India reaffirmed its stance, stating that Pakistan’s claims were baseless and failed to acknowledge the real concern—its persistent encouragement of terrorism.
In a release, MEA official Randhir Jaiswal stated, "We have seen that Pakistan has made some remarks once again regarding the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The world knows well that the real issue is Pakistan's active support and promotion of cross-border terrorism. This is the greatest impediment to peace and security in the region.". Instead of spreading lies, Pakistan should vacate the Indian territory that it has occupied illegally and by force.
India has always claimed that Jammu and Kashmir belongs to the country and opposed all interference from other countries. New Delhi has also accused Pakistan of funding and giving refuge to the terrorist groups operating in the country, calling it the largest speed bump on the way to real peace. India has insisted that the role played by Pakistan in perpetuating volatility has to be resolved before significant negotiations can commence.
