This match, which will kick off on Wednesday at 7:30 PM, will be the second class in this year’s SAFF Championship. India and Pakistan have been put in Group A alongside Kuwait and Nepal. Bangladesh, Bhutan, Lebanon, and the Maldives form Group B.

The first India-Pakistan clash in five years!

This is the first time in five years that India will face Pakistan in a football field. The last meeting between these two rivals took place in the 2018 SAFF Championship, where India edged Pakistan to a 3-1 victory. In fact, India have won each of the last four times it has faced Pakistan.

India will come into this match in red-hot form, having won 4 of their last 5 matches. In contract, their opponents have lost all of their last five matches. The Blue Tigers are favourites to win the SAFF Championship, which they have done on a record eight occasions, and would expect to win the clash against Pakistan.

Visa problems delay travel plans for Pakistan team

On Monday, Shaji Prabhakaran, the Secretary General of AIFF, confirmed that their Pakistani counterparts have received the required visas to travel to India.

The visas were issued by the Indian High Commission in Mauritius. The Pakistani team initially planned to reach India on Sunday; however, the plans were delayed due to the visas not being issued. General Secretary Prabhakaran then assured their opponents that the visas would be issued by Monday, and that promise has been fulfilled.

India and Pakistan kick off on January 21, 2023 at 7:30 PM. Fans can watch the match on FanCode and Star Sports.
