New Delhi: After the Pahalgam terror attack, the central government has issued an order to send back all Pakistanis present in India. In this sequence, about 1800 Pakistani citizens are residing in Uttar Pradesh, who will now have to go back. The decision to leave the country after the Pahalgam attack has increased their difficulties. People have started returning on their own. After the deadline for returning is over, legal action will be taken against those who have not returned to Pakistan

Action Against Pakistani Citizens in UP

DGP Prashant Kumar said- As per the order of the central government, action will be taken to send Pakistani citizens back. According to highly placed sources, there are about 1800 Pakistani citizens in UP, who came with visas a few years ago but did not return. They have not even applied for citizenship under CAA. Hindus who came from Pakistan are not included in these. A large number of Hindus who came from Pakistan have applied for citizenship.

Intelligence Units Monitor Pakistani Nationals

A large number of Pakistani citizens come and go here on short term and long term visas, the records of which are kept by the central intelligence agencies and the home department. According to the rules, every person coming from Pakistan has to register himself with the district SP. The Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) under the IB compiles the records. After the recent decision of the central government, the local intelligence unit is collecting the details of Pakistani citizens residing in all the districts. So that further action can be taken. For example, there are 35 Pakistani citizens in Bareilly, 18 in Bulandshahr, 10 in Varanasi and 30 in Rampur.

Stay away from legal hassles

Thousands of Muslim families in UP have relations with Pakistani citizens. In such a situation, when their visas expire, they either hide or change their identity. Recently, a mother and daughter were dismissed from their government teaching jobs in Bareilly for being Pakistani citizens and a case was also registered against them. The police take action if they do not go back even after their visas expire, but people keep escaping due to legal complications.

Nepal route is used

Most Pakistanis use the Nepal route to enter India without visa. Seema Haider, who came to Noida via Nepal recently, is also among them. However, officials believe that their number is not more than that of Bangladeshi citizens. Since many infiltrators obtain documents of Indian citizenship, it is not easy to identify them.
