Pehlgam Attack

National News:  Two tourists were killed and 12 others were seriously injured in an attack by terrorists on Tuesday morning in Pahalgam area of Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. The attack occurred in the Basaron region, which is a popular site among tourists. According to eyewitnesses, the terrorists first asked the tourists their religious identity and then fired bullets at them. The attackers ambushed and attacked indiscriminate firing before fleeing from the spot, causing chaos in the area.

Some of the injured are in critical condition and have been sent out of the air for treatment. After this attack, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army personnel reached the spot, who laid siege to the area and started a search operation. Police officials say the attack took place in the grassland of Basaron, which is a remote area and can only be reached from foot or pony. A group of tourists went to visit the region at the time of the attack.

Prime Minister Modi expressed concern

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep concern over this terrorist attack and spoke to Home Minister Amit Shah over the phone. He took complete information about the attack and directed to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of citizens. PM Modi also asked Shah to assess the security situation in the area and visit the place of attack. In addition, he expressed his condolences to the families of the tourists killed and injured in this attack.

Strong condemnation of political leaders

Various political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir reacted strongly to this attack. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha described it as a cowardly attack and assured to punish the culprits strictly. He asked the officials to increase the deployment of security forces in the area after the attack and provide immediate treatment to the injured tourists. Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also condemned the attack and described it as "disgusting and inhuman". "To target tourists in Kashmir only reflects the cowardice of terrorists," he said.

BJP accused Pakistani terrorists

BJP leader Ravinder Raina described the attack as an act of Pakistan -backed terrorists and said that these terrorists are afraid of facing our brave soldiers, so they targeted unarmed and innocent tourists. Raina also said that the army and police have completely laid siege to the area and strict action will be taken to catch the terrorists quickly.

Increasing attacks on tourists and security in Kashmir

This attack took place at a time when a significant increase in the number of tourists in the Kashmir Valley is being seen. After battling terrorism for years, the situation in Kashmir has now improved and the arrival of tourists has increased here. This attack has raised questions on the growing tourism activities of Kashmir. Security forces need to be additional vigilance regarding the Amarnath Yatra starting from July 3 in Kashmir.

The injured were sent out by air

Injured tourists were sent to the hospital by helicopter. Some injured tourists brought the locals on their ponies and brought them down from the Basaron area. The local administration and health department gave quick response in the matter, and hospitals were instructed to treat the injured with high priority. This attack has once again raised serious questions about the safety of tourists and citizens in the Kashmir Valley. The administration and security forces have assured that the situation is completely under control and the attackers will soon be arrested.
