Six officials have been suspended by the Uttar Pradesh government following the July 2 stampede that occurred during a religious gathering in Hathras and claimed over 121 lives. According to the official statement, the action has been taken based on the investigation done so far, the investigation committee does not see any breakthrough in the case and the committee finds the program organizer and the high-level police and administration guilty.According to the SIT report, the event organisers are mainly responsible for the accident based on eyewitness accounts and other evidence.SIT suspends six officialsThe Sub-District Magistrate of Sikandrarao Ravindra Kumar, Police Circle Officer of Sikandrarao Anand Kumar, Station Officer of Sikandrarao Ashish Kumar, Tehsildar of Sikandrarao Sushil Kumar, Chowki Incharge of Kachora Manveer Singh, and Chowki Incharge of Pora Brijesh Pandey are among the people who are suspended from their post.The investigation team has also said that the stampede happened as the organisers of the event did not take the event seriously and senior officials were not informed. The decision by the investigation team has been taken after recording statements of 119 people, including the family members of the deceased and injured devotees. The self-styled godman Suraj Pal, who goes by the name of Narayan Sakar Hari expressed grief and condoled the deaths of several people in the mishap that occurred on July 2.
