Opposition Parties meet: Mayawati is not invited, let’s see who will attend

Leaders of the opposition parties from all over the nation will gather in Patna on Friday, to develop a plan to challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The Opposition chose Patna as the location for its summit because it commemorates Jayaprakash Narayan’s call for a complete revolution in 1974, which led to the overthrow of Indira Gandhi’s majority government.

The goal of the gathering is to create a strong opposition front to take on the BJP, led by Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar. Conflict arose when JD(U) claimed Mayawati was not invited, which prompted the meeting. Among the leaders anticipated to attend are Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann, Sharad Pawar, MK Stalin, Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren reached Patna to attend the meeting.

Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, will serve as the meeting’s host to achieve agreement on creating a unified opposition front to oppose the BJP.

Jayant Chaudhary, the leader of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), chose against attending the summit because of a “pre-planned family programme,” while Thursday saw the arrival in Patna of many opposition party leaders. However, Chaudhary believed that the gathering would mark an “important turning point in the journey towards opposition unity.”

This came about after Mayawati, the head of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), was accused of not having received an invitation from the meeting’s organiser, the Janata Dal (United). Also excluded from the invitation was Naveen Patnaik of the BJD and YSR Congress.
