Opposition MPs Suspended: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has vehemently criticised the Narendra Modi-led Central Government for suspending 92 Opposition MPs, following the demand for Home Minister Amit Shah's statement on the Parliament Security Breach on December 13.
In an extraordinary move, a total of 78 opposition MPs were suspended from Parliament within a day, marking the highest-ever count of suspensions in both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. This drastic action prompted strong reactions from Congress and other parties, accusing the BJP government of manoeuvring critical legislations in an "Opposition-less" Parliament.
The Lok Sabha saw the suspension of 33 MPs, including Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. Subsequently, in the Rajya Sabha, 45 leaders were suspended as the Opposition persisted in their demand for Home Minister Amit Shah's statement.
Priyanka Gandhi, expressing her discontent on social media, condemned the Centre's actions, asserting that the government, failing to secure Parliament, resorted to expelling the entire opposition, tainting democracy.
Labelling it the "most shameful attack on Indian democracy in history," Priyanka Gandhi underscored how the sacrifices made for democracy are now being disregarded.

Notably, in 1989, 63 Lok Sabha members were suspended over the tabling issue of the Justice Thakkar Committee report on the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
The mass suspension casts uncertainty over Parliament's functionality. As the winter session concludes, the fate of the suspended MPs in the upcoming session remains uncertain.
