Opposition MPs Suspended: Raghav Chadha, a senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab representing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), strongly criticised the Central Government's move to suspend 141 opposition MPs who raised concerns about the recent security breach in Parliament. Chadha denounced the suspension, stating that it signifies not just the suspension of MPs but an alarming suspension of democracy within the country.

Critique of the Suspension

Chadha highlighted that the suspended MPs were penalised merely for questioning the security lapse in Parliament. He expressed deep concern, indicating that the essence of democracy is under threat due to these suspensions. He further underscored the irony that a BJP MP, responsible for approving the entry of the individuals involved in the security breach, continues to retain membership in Parliament without facing any repercussions.

Role of BJP MP

The AAP leader pointed out the unsettling fact that the security breach was facilitated by a BJP MP's approval of visitor passes for the accused individuals who subsequently breached Parliament's security. Despite this direct involvement, the BJP MP in question faces no suspension or consequences for their role. Chadha lamented that while this BJP MP remains unaffected, 141 opposition MPs, demanding answers and accountability, have been suspended.

Democracy at Stake

In a firm stance, Chadha proclaimed, "Today, it is not merely the suspension of MPs; it is the suspension of democracy itself." He highlighted the glaring discrepancy in the treatment of MPs involved in the security breach, emphasising the undemocratic nature of the suspensions imposed by the Central Government.

Raghav Chadha's criticism sheds light on the suspension of opposition MPs, pointing to potential threats to democratic principles within the country's political landscape.
