Atishi viral video: An old video has recently resurfaced, showing then-Minister Atishi Marlena allegedly instructing a woman in a blue suit to provoke a BJP MLA for political advantage. In the video, Atishi is heard whispering, “BJP MLAs are standing. You go there, and I will make a video of you beating him. He cannot respond, or else he will be blamed as a molester.” This controversy has resurfaced at a time when Atishi has assumed the role of Delhi’s Chief Minister, drawing heavy criticism from her political opponents.

Defamation case against Atishi moves forward

Amid the controversy, the Rouse Avenue Court on Monday listed a defamation case against Atishi, former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and other AAP leaders for further consideration. Filed by BJP leader Rajeev Babbar in 2020, the defamation suit alleges that false statements were made by AAP leaders, which tarnished his reputation. Last week, the Delhi High Court dismissed an appeal to quash the defamation proceedings, stating that citizens have the right to truthful and accurate information, and that political mudslinging is not permissible.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Tanya Bamniyal has scheduled the case for a hearing on October 3, where arguments on charges and the appearance of the accused will be considered. The court’s firm stance on providing accurate information continues to resonate as Atishi takes on her new responsibilities.

Atishi Becomes Delhi’s Youngest Chief Minister

Despite the ongoing legal challenges, Atishi Marlena was officially sworn in as Delhi’s Chief Minister, becoming the youngest leader to hold the position at 42. Known for her role in education reforms, Atishi has been a prominent figure within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The oath-taking ceremony was held at Raj Niwas and attended by key political leaders.

Atishi steps into the role following the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal earlier this week. Her tenure as Chief Minister is expected to be brief, with Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February next year.

Atishi’s Leadership Amidst a Political Storm

Atishi’s rise to the top position comes as no surprise, having held 14 crucial portfolios during her time as a minister in Kejriwal’s Cabinet. Notably, she managed important departments like finance, education, and revenue, particularly during Kejriwal’s imprisonment in a corruption case. Her leadership is likely to focus on maintaining AAP’s influence in the run-up to the next assembly elections.

However, the resurfacing of the controversial video and the pending defamation case add significant challenges to her political journey. With just a few months left until the elections, all eyes will be on Atishi and how she handles the controversies surrounding her leadership.
