Odisha STF arrests Kashmiri fraudster wanted in multiple states

The Odisha Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a Kashmiri fraudster, Sayed Ishaan Bukhari, who was also wanted by the Kashmir Police in connection with cheating and forgery charges. Bukhari, also known as Ishaan Bukhari and Dr. Ishaan Bukhari, was found to be impersonating various high-profile figures, including a neuro specialist doctor, an army doctor, an officer in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), and even a close associate of high-ranking officials in the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Big fraudster arrested

The 37-year-old, hailing from Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir, is also suspected of having links to anti-national activities, according to an STF press release. The release further revealed that Bukhari allegedly married at least 6-7 women from various parts of India, including Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Odisha. He reportedly used online platforms and dating apps to connect with these women, posing as a doctor with international degrees.

The press release stated, "On getting reliable information, on December 15, a team of STF with the help of local police officials and in the presence of witnesses, conducted a raid at Neulpur, Dharmshala, Jajpur and arrested one Sayed Ishaan Bukhari @ Ishaan Bukhari @ Dr Ishaan Bukhari, 37 Years S/o. Sayed SaifeUddin Bukhari @ Peer Mohammad Muqbool At-85, Peer Mohalla, Handwara, Kupwara, Jammu & Kashmir-193221 At/Pr. Neulapur PS. Dharmasala Dist. Jajpur, Odisha for impersonation/cheating/ forgery and links with anti-national elements."

The STF registered a case under Sections 419/420/465/467/468/471/120(B) IPC r/w. Sec. 66 C/66 D of IT Act, 2000. 

Incriminating evidence seized

According to the press release, more than 100 documents were also recovered during the raid. Numerous fake documents including medical degree certificates from the Canadian Health Services Institute, Cornel University of USA, and Christian Medical College Vellore were seized in the raid.

The STF is currently investigating Bukhari's connections with suspicious individuals in Kerala and Pakistani nationals.
