How did the accident take place?

Police said the accident happened between two bikes traveling in opposite directions, an auto-rickshaw and a tractor going the same way, and an SUV overtaking the auto-rickshaw via the wrong side at high speed.

One bike rider trying to dangerously overtake the tractor crashed into the recklessly driven SUV overtaking the auto-rickshaw.

Losing control, the SUV rammed the auto-rickshaw carrying 15 passengers, toppling it over. Two auto occupants died instantly upon falling onto the road.

Meanwhile, another bike from the opposite side smashed into the SUV due to the collision, instantly killing the rider.

Negligent, rash driving by the SUV driver resulted in the major pile-up causing three deaths and injuring over a dozen people. State assistance has been announced for victim families as an investigation continues into the exact accident circumstances.
