Odisha Faces Another Rail Mishap: 11 Coaches of SMVT Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Express Derail in Cuttack

Odisha’s railway network has been struck by yet another devastating blow as 11 coaches of the SMVT Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Express veered off the tracks near Cuttack, raising fresh concerns over safety and infrastructure in the state. The derailment, which disrupted a key route connecting southern and northeastern India, comes as a stark reminder of the recurring challenges plaguing the region’s rail system.

Sabarmati Express train derails (X/ANI)

In a shocking repeat of rail misfortune, Odisha witnessed chaos unfold when 11 coaches of the SMVT Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Express derailed in Cuttack. Train movement on this route has come to a halt. Bogies from B-6 to B-14 have derailed. The bogies of the train derailed and fell into the nearby forest and fields. As a result, many passengers jumped off the train. Railways have informed that other trains running on this line have been cancelled.

 

Kamakhya Express derailed

According to reports, Kamakhya Express train derailed near Choudwar in Odisha. It is being told that the train derailed near the passenger halt of Manguli in Choudwar area. At least 11 coaches of the train have derailed. The derailment incident took place at 11.54 am.

Railways engaged in rescue work

Accident relief and medical relief trains have also been sent to the site by the Railways. Steps are being taken to send the stranded passengers of the affected train to their destination.
