New Delhi: In a fiery address at the 'Naveen Shahdara Jila Karyakarta Sangam' in Delhi, Union Minister Smriti Irani took a direct swipe at Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party, casting ashoadow of doubt on the Delhi Chief Minister's future.
In a candid statement, Smriti Irani expressed skepticism about Arvind Kejriwal's ability to evade incarceration. "The person who has already sent half of his Cabinet to jail, there is no guarantee on how long he (Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal) will stay out," Irani emphatically declared during the event.
Irani's remark comes on the heels of three prominent AAP leaders, Satyendar Jain, Manish Sisodia, and Sanjay Singh, facing imprisonment in separate cases. Satyendar Jain was arrested in May last year in connection with a money laundering case. Meanwhile, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh were arrested by the Enforcement Directorate this year, entangled in an alleged Delhi liquor scam.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has not escaped legal scrutiny either. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned him for questioning regarding the now-defunct excise policy. Kejriwal vehemently denounced the summons as illegal and politically motivated.
Earlier this year, Arvind Kejriwal faced questioning by the CBI regarding the alleged liquor scam. Kejriwal, after enduring over nine hours of grilling, defended himself, asserting that the accusations were baseless. "The entire alleged liquor scam is false and bad politics. AAP is a 'kattar imaandaar party.' They want to finish AAP, but the country's people are with us," declared Kejriwal.
Despite the continuous unfavorable alegations the Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal remains reluctant and have been saying that the leaders are being framed by the BJP-led central government.
As political tensions escalate, Irani's warning adds a new layer to the ongoing trail of legal troubles surrounding Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party.
