Chandigarh: Kulwinder Kaur, the suspended CISF constable who slapped actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut, remains unrepentant according to her brother. Sher Singh, Kaur’s brother, met with her on Tuesday and confirmed her lack of regret despite facing criminal charges and disciplinary action.

Emotional outburst at the airport

Sher Singh explained that his sister acted out of emotion when she slapped Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh Airport. Kaur was reportedly distressed by Ranaut's previous comments during the farmers' protest, which led to her impulsive reaction upon seeing the newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.

Support from family and farmers' organizations

Despite the consequences, including jail time and disciplinary action from the CISF, Kaur does not regret her actions. Singh emphasized that had appropriate action been taken against Ranaut by the relevant agencies and the Punjab government at the time of her controversial statements, the incident might have been avoided.

Incident video goes viral

The slapping incident, which occurred on June 6, was captured on video and quickly spread across social media platforms. The video showed Kaur slapping Ranaut, prompting widespread reactions and discussions.

Farmers' organizations rally in support

Kaur's actions received backing from various farmers' organizations, including the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha. These groups organized a march in Mohali to show their support for the constable. The Mohali Police have booked Kaur under Sections 323 and 341 of the Indian Penal Code.

Backdrop of the incident

The anger towards Ranaut stems from her remarks during the 2020 farmers' protest, where she mistakenly identified an elderly woman protester as Bilkis Bano, a notable figure from the Shaheen Bagh protests. Ranaut controversially claimed that the woman was "available for ₹100" to participate in protests. This statement deeply offended Kaur, whose own mother was among the protesting farmers.

Kulwinder Kaur's brother, Sher Singh, asserts that despite the legal repercussions, Kaur stands by her actions, highlighting the emotional and personal motivations behind the incident. The episode continues to generate significant attention and debate, reflecting the ongoing tensions related to the farmers' protests and Ranaut's controversial statements.
