North India's heatwave to persist until June 14, rainfall alert issued for these states

The cyclonic circulation is expected to weaken after 48 hours, leading to a reduction in the intensity and spread of rains along the Konkan coast, including Mumbai.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning on June 10, indicating that the ongoing heatwave conditions in parts of north India are expected to persist until June 14.

"Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions likely in few parts of Uttar Pradesh and heatwave conditions likely in isolated pockets of Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand on June 14," IMD shared on its official Twitter account.

Heatwave to continue in these states 

The heatwave conditions are anticipated to prevail in these regions on June 11, 12, and 13 as well, as per IMD forecasts. According to the Meteorological Department, heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are forecasted in a few parts of Bihar, isolated pockets of Gangetic West Bengal, and heatwave conditions in few parts of East Uttar Pradesh, isolated pockets of Jammu division, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, and Jharkhand on June 10.

Maximum temperatures expected 

In Delhi, the minimum and maximum temperatures are predicted to be 32.84 degrees Celsius and 44.39 degrees Celsius, respectively, on June 10. On June 11, the forecast indicates a minimum and maximum temperature of 36.49 degrees Celsius and 45.64 degrees Celsius, respectively, with humidity levels at 10 percent. Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued by IMD for heavy rainfall in Kerala from June 11 to 12, with the possibility of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall during this period. In addition, heavy rainfall is expected today in the Marathwada, Konkan region, Goa, and coastal Karnataka. Assam & Meghalaya are also likely to experience isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall between June 11 and June 14.

Monsoon expected in Mumbai 

The southwest monsoon arrived in Mumbai earlier than expected, thanks to a cyclonic circulation over the Konkan region. The city experienced heavy showers last night and this morning, with the Santacruz observatory recording 69mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours and the regional station at Colaba registering 53mm of rainfall in the same period, according to Skymet Weather Services.
