UP News: A shooter, identified as Sikandar, was apprehended in Noida on Thursday following a dramatic encounter that resulted in a bullet wound to his leg. This arrest comes one year after he was implicated in the murder of an Air India employee, Suraj Mann.

Background of the Case

Suraj Mann was tragically shot dead outside a gym in Noida's Sector 104 on January 19 of the previous year. The incident occurred amidst a violent gang war involving imprisoned gangsters Kapil Maan and Parvesh Mann, the latter being Suraj's brother. According to police reports, Sikandar confessed that the murder was orchestrated by Kapil Maan, who is currently incarcerated in Mandoli jail, Delhi.

On the fateful night of the shooting, Suraj was inside his vehicle when unidentified gunmen opened fire. This attack was reportedly ordered by Parvesh as retaliation for the murder of his father, allegedly killed by Kapil and his associates.

The Arrest

The breakthrough in the case came when Noida Police successfully tracked down Sikandar. During a routine checkpoint inspection on Thursday evening, officers noticed a motorcycle without a license plate. When ordered to stop, Sikandar fled, prompting a police chase."When the criminal found himself surrounded in the jungles of Sector-42, he started firing at the police team.

In retaliation, the criminal was injured by a bullet and has been admitted to the hospital for treatment," stated a senior police official to news agency PTI. A pistol, cartridge, and motorcycle were recovered from the scene.

Sikandar's Evasion

Following Suraj's murder, Sikandar evaded capture by frequently changing his identity and location. Despite being arrested twice by Delhi Police for unrelated offenses, he managed to conceal his involvement in Suraj's murder during interrogations. Nevertheless, Noida Police remained vigilant, monitoring Sikandar's movements until they confirmed his connection to the crime through CCTV footage. A reward of Rs 25,000 was later announced for information leading to his capture.

Suraj Mann had aspired to live a life free from crime and away from his brother Parvesh’s notorious connections with gangsters like Kala Rana and Lawrence Bishnoi. Tragically, despite having no criminal record himself, Suraj's ties with Parvesh ultimately led to his untimely demise.
