New Delhi: If you are in the habit of talking on your phone while walking on the streets, you need to be extra cautious. The Noida Police have apprehended two accused and a minor from a gang that specifically targets pedestrians engaged in phone conversations. During interrogation, it was revealed that this gang operated by swiftly snatching phones from unsuspecting victims before they could react. The Sector-126 police recovered nine stolen mobile phones, an iPhone bought using funds from activated UPI accounts on stolen devices, illegal weapons, and the motorcycle used in the crime.

Gang changed locations after each crime

ADCP Noida, Manish Kumar Mishra, shared that these individuals were extremely cunning, often relocating after each crime to evade arrest. To nab them, the Sector-126 police team had to sift through footage from approximately 150 CCTV cameras to identify the suspects. Using electronic surveillance and confidential information, the police eventually arrested Sachin and Ankit Kumar, while placing a minor under custody.

Stolen phones sold in Delhi

The accused and the minor revealed during questioning that they operated in various locations across Noida, snatching phones to fund their lavish lifestyles. They used a Splendor motorcycle and a white Apache for their crimes, identifying targets who were talking on their phones while walking.
